DDK Function: 501H Initialize Instrument Manager

Discussion

Input:

AX = 501H
BX = Driver number
DST library_directory and GTL_filename strings valid, if applicable

Output:

AX = 1: Instrument management successfully initialized
AX = 0: Bad or missing instrument file, insufficient synthesizer RAM, or other error

This function is called by MSS after Function 305H (Initialize Device) and before any MIDI data is played. Its purpose is to allow the driver to initialize its instrument data management routines and open any instrument files needed during playback.

This function may safely perform DOS or other system-level accesses, if necessary.
